FCA disclosures
My Insurance Expert is an independent research and introducer service. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. This page explains exactly what that means: what we do and do not do, how introductions to FCA-authorised brokers work, how we are paid, and how to complain or check a firm before you buy.
Our regulatory status
My Insurance Expert is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). We are an independent publisher that researches the UK insurance market and acts as an introducer. We provide information only, and we introduce people who want cover to FCA-authorised brokers and partners who are responsible for the regulated activity. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for data protection, and our registered address is 60 Tottenham Court Road, London, W1T 2EW.
What this means we can and cannot do
Because we are not FCA-authorised, there are firm limits on our role:
- We do not give financial or insurance advice, and we do not tell you which policy is right for you.
- We do not recommend specific policies, products or insurers as suitable for your circumstances.
- We do not arrange, sell or administer cover.
- We do not handle your money, take payments for premiums or process claims.
What we do is publish independent, general information and pass your enquiry to an FCA-authorised broker who can advise you and arrange cover if you choose to proceed.
How introductions work
If you submit an enquiry, your details are passed to one or more FCA-authorised brokers or partners. From that point, the regulated relationship is with them, not with us. The authorised firm is responsible for any advice it gives, for assessing suitability, for arranging or selling the policy, and for the regulatory protections that come with that — including the rules of the FCA Handbook. We are simply the introducer that connected you; we are not a party to the advice or the contract of insurance.
Financial promotions
Some content about quotes, prices or specific regulated products is a financial promotion under the FCA rules. Where any such regulated promotional or quote content appears in connection with our service, it is provided or approved by our FCA-authorised partners, who are responsible for it. Our own editorial pages are general information and education only, and are not financial promotions inviting you to buy a particular product.
How we are paid
Using My Insurance Expert is free for you. When we introduce you to an authorised broker or partner, we may receive an introducer fee or affiliate commission from that firm. This is clearly disclosed, and it never affects the price you pay — you pay the same whether you reach the broker through us or directly. We are paid for the introduction, not for any advice, and we do not receive payment from you.
Complaints
Where you complain depends on what the complaint is about:
- A complaint about advice, a quote, arranging cover or a policy should go to the FCA-authorised firm that handled it. That firm has a regulated complaints process, and if you are not satisfied you can usually escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service (financial-ombudsman.org.uk).
- A complaint about our website content — for example an error or something unclear in our information — comes to us at editorial@myinsuranceexpert.co.uk. As we are not FCA-authorised, the Financial Ombudsman Service does not cover our editorial content.
How to check a firm on the FCA Register
Before you buy any insurance or act on advice, you can and should verify that the firm is authorised. The FCA Register at register.fca.org.uk is the official, free public record of every firm and individual the FCA authorises. Search the firm’s name or reference number to confirm it is authorised, see which regulated activities it is permitted to carry out, and check its contact details match. If a firm is not on the Register, or the details do not match, do not proceed until you have confirmed who you are dealing with.
Information only — not financial advice. My Insurance Expert is not an FCA-authorised intermediary and does not arrange or sell policies. We provide independent information and introduce enquiries to FCA-authorised brokers. Last updated: 2026-06-13
