Every guide on My Insurance Expert is researched, written and reviewed by our editorial team — a group of UK insurance researchers and writers whose job is to explain life, income protection, private health, home and other cover in plain English, accurately and without a sales agenda.
The people behind the research
My Insurance Expert is an independent research and information site. Our editorial team combines writers who specialise in UK personal insurance with editors and fact-checkers who verify every figure and claim before it is published. We are not salespeople and not advisers — our only job is to help you understand your options before you speak to an FCA-authorised broker.
We work in defined roles so that no single person is the only set of eyes on a page:
- Researchers & writers — gather the facts from named UK sources and turn them into clear, structured guides.
- Editors — check the writing for clarity, balance and a consistent, jargon-free house style.
- Fact-checkers — verify every figure, definition and rule against an authoritative source, and confirm nothing reads as advice.
How our content is produced
We research from named UK authorities — the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), gov.uk and published insurer data — and we cite them so you can check our work. Drafting is assisted by modern editorial tools, but every page is reviewed, corrected and approved by a human editor who is accountable for its accuracy. Figures we describe as “indicative” are for orientation only and are never quotes.
Every guide carries a “last updated” date, and we refresh our data regularly. If you spot something that looks wrong, tell us and we will check it — see our editorial standards and methodology for the full detail.
Independent, and paid transparently
No insurer or broker pays us for favourable coverage, and no product is ranked or recommended because it earns us more. We make money only through clearly disclosed introducer and affiliate arrangements when you choose to compare or be contacted by an FCA-authorised partner — which never affects the price you pay.
