About My Insurance Expert
My Insurance Expert is an independent UK insurance research and information site. We cut through the jargon, explain cover in plain English and publish independent research — so you can understand your options before you decide. We are an independent editorial research site, not an FCA-authorised insurer, broker or adviser — we do not sell, arrange or compare insurance, and we never charge you a penny.
Who we are
My Insurance Expert (myinsuranceexpert.co.uk) is an independent, UK-focused insurance research and information publisher. We are ICO-registered. Our job is simple: to make personal insurance easier to understand. We research the UK market, write clear plain-English guides and set out how different types of cover work and how they differ, so you can make a confident, informed decision in your own time. We do not advise on, sell, arrange or compare insurance, and we never charge you for using the site.
What we cover
We focus on the personal insurance products that matter most to UK households, providing plain-English research across:
- Life insurance — term, whole-of-life and the level, decreasing and increasing options.
- Income protection — cover that replaces part of your earnings if illness or injury stops you working.
- Private health insurance — how private medical cover works, what it includes and how providers differ.
- Home insurance — buildings and contents cover for UK homeowners and renters.
- Travel insurance — single-trip, annual and specialist cover, and what to look for.
- Pet insurance — lifetime, time-limited and accident-only cover for cats and dogs.
Why we exist
The UK has a well-documented protection gap: millions of households have a mortgage, children or other dependants but little or no insurance to fall back on if the worst happens. Part of the reason is that insurance is genuinely confusing — dense policy wording, overlapping product names and small print that is hard to compare like-for-like. We exist to close that gap by cutting through the jargon. We translate complex cover into language anyone can follow, lay out the trade-offs honestly, and help you work out what is relevant to your situation — without pressure and without sales spin.
How we're independent
We are editorially independent. No insurer pays for favourable coverage, and our research is not shaped by commercial relationships — we currently have none: no arrangements with insurers, brokers or comparison sites, and no affiliate links. We are not an FCA-authorised insurer, broker or adviser, and we do not advise on, sell, arrange or compare insurance — so we have no incentive to push you towards any particular product. Every link and call-to-action on this site leads to our own research pages. Our role is to inform; nothing here is advice or a recommendation.
How we make money
Using My Insurance Expert is always free for you, and we never charge for our research or guides. At present the site earns no money at all: we have no commercial relationships with insurers, brokers or comparison sites and receive no introducer fees, affiliate commission or advertising income. The site is currently unmonetised while we build our research. If that changes — for example through advertising or clearly disclosed partnerships — full details will be set out on our How we get paid page before any revenue starts. No insurer pays us for favourable coverage, and none ever will.
Our editorial team & review process
Our content is produced and reviewed by the My Insurance Expert editorial team. We research using authoritative UK sources — including the ABI, the FCA and gov.uk — and review pages for accuracy and clarity before and after publication. Time-sensitive facts are checked and refreshed, and figures are labelled as indicative rather than presented as quotes. You can read more about how we work in our editorial standards and our methodology.
How to get in touch
We welcome questions, corrections and feedback. For editorial matters you can reach the team at editorial@myinsuranceexpert.co.uk, or use our contact page. Our registered office is shown on our legal page, and we are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Please note we cannot give personal financial advice or recommend a specific policy — for that, you will need an FCA-authorised broker or adviser.
Information only — not financial advice.
